Designed for students of all levels this courses reviews the fundamental techniques of painting with weekly demos and open-ended assisgnments. Instruction will include the dry brush techniquic, development of the underpainting, and the use of washes. Also included will be an overview of the 25 points of painting. This course focuses on finding personal self-expression and content.

This beginning to advanced level studio painting course emphasizes the use of mixed media. Paintings are developed by incorporating texture, small objects and found materials with a combination of painting and drawing media on a single surface, such as canvas, wood, or cardboard. Individual and group critiques focus on the process of self-expression through the discovery and challenge of using a variety of media.

This intermediate to advanced level studio painting course focuses on the developmentof personal content and self expression. Through slide lectures, and individual and group critiques, concepts such as risk taking, predictability versus unpredictability in a painting, tension, discovery, and poetry are explored.

Oakdale Painting Studio is equipped with easels, pallet stands and a large painting rack for storing works in progress. It has an area for leaving your painting supplies and a container for turp disposal and recycling. There are two exhaust fans for ventilation. Please bring a box or large plastic bin to hold your supplies on the shelf.
