Painting Workshop Visit the Venice Biennale
Itinerary: A truly inspiring setting for a painting retreat, Venice is world renown for its rich cultural history, extraordinary architecture and abundant art treasures. Called the "City of Water" and the "City of Bridges," Venice’s unrivaled setting and magical atmosphere offers a visual feast for artists. Morning excursions include visits to the 54th Venice Biennale, the definitive international exhibition for contemporary art; the Peggy Guggenheim Collection; the Island of Murano and its famous glassmakers; the historic Palazzo Ducale in the Piazza San Marco; and sketching at Santa Maria della Salute and environs. Painting sessions are held each afternoon at the Don Orione Artigianelli complex in the Sestiere di Dorsoduro. Dates: Sunday August 21, 2011 to Tuesday August 30, 2011 (10 days/9 nights) Accomodations: Centro Culturale Don Orione Artigianelli - a restored ancient monastery located in the heart of Venice in the Sestiere di Dorsoduro on the Guidecca Canal. First offered in 1895, the Biennale is based in the Giardini, a verdant public park houses 30 permanent national pavilions, and has expanded over the years to encompass the nearby historic Arsenale and additional exhibition spaces thoughout Venice.

Peggy Guggenheim Collection The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is among the most important museums in Italy for European and American art of the first half of the 20th century. It is located in Peggy Guggenheim's former home, Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, on the Grand Canal in Venice.
